Aside from monitoring your goat’s location, and fencing off dangerous areas, there is not much you can do to stop a goat from eating something toxic. The most important thing is to closely monitor your goat’s behavior. If they start to display uncommon behavior, it is possible your goat has eaten something toxic.

- excessive saliva
- throwing up
- diarrhea
- lethargy
- crying
- respiratory issues
- choking
- shaking

How to Help a Goat That’s Eaten Something Toxic
Follow these steps to help your goat that has eaten something toxic:
- Check their mouth and make sure there is nothing in it
- Call your vet or poison control and follow their advice
- Bring the goat to an area that is cool and not in the sun
- Try to keep your goat standing up so the toxic substance can pass through the goat faster
- Try to get it to drink water to flush out the toxic substance.
- A special medicine: Mix together 1 beer, 2 table spoons of epsom salt, and 1 table spoon of baking soda. Give this to your goat every 3 to 4 hours until the goat stops throwing up
